SLEEPY HOLLOW

Our 1ºESO pupils  have worked, during this year, with one of the most well-known books of the American literature, "Sleepy Hollow" written by Washington Irving. They've read it and worked in groups to make a review of its plot, look for information about the village of Sleepy Hollow and the author of the book. Also, they've described the characters in details creating a fantastic display in the Bilingual section corner (you can see it in the pictures below). Apart from that, and once they were ready, our pupils gave a presentation in front of their 1ºESO partners explaining everything they've learnt. The funniest thing was at the end, when they did a kahoot activity with specific questions  prizes and the winners got a prize.

Bilingual day!!!

We have celebrated the first school day with our bilingual section . Children had to test their abilities and knowledge in different challenges, oriented with a digital map, they’ve got through all the school looking for the next challenge. If they passed the task, they would get a stamp in their passports, and a final puzzle had to be done in order to win the gymkana. Teams were named after a British city and they all solved the game…

"WORK HARD, PLAY HARD"

OUR TECHNOLOGY PROJECTS.

CARDBOARDS

Last month our pupils of Technology have been working on a funny activity. This activity lets them practice and learn English and Technology at the same time. You can watch the results below but also the process that they followed, which is the most important thing when they make their cardboards. The themes on which our students have worked are Mechanisms, Electricity and Energy Production.

We hope you like it!

The great Chef Alberto Bravo delivered an interactive cooking lesson with the bilingual group of  2º level, they managed to follow the instructions and all the steps in a recipe of a MINI-HAMBURGER, we were dealing with American  food vocabulary and they learnt all the ingredients in the previous lessons. They really enjoyed the activity, and the hamburger, of course. What a REALIA !!! Authentic material in class.

Our amazing body

Our students of 4ºESO bilingual were working on a reading task in a different way. As you can see, they have covered the different points of a book that deals with parts of our body by creating colourful cardboards with the most relevant information on them. Some of them are really original. ENJOY THEM!

LITERARY KNOLLING

Our students in 2º ESO have been working the last  readings in groups. A literary knolling is named after the  cenital plane of a view, so the students chose symbols in the story to narrate the plot throuh those objects. They placed them on the floor and finally take a picture of it.

They have worked in groups the three different stories, after that they have told the rest of the class about the plot .

Bilingual section evaluation

The students in the 2nd group of ESO have been asked to evaluate our bilingual section, the best and the worst of being inmersed in the English language few hours a day... in this link you can read their comments and points of view about it:

OUR TV PROGRAM PROJECT

Our bilingual group of 2º ESO has been working on a Project covering the different subjects they learn in English. It's an cross-curricular project, which includes, not only the coordination of three different subjects, but also the hard work of the students and teachers during few weeks, happening at the same time the visit of  Dajana Jelavić , a Croatian teacher performing a K-122  I.D.I.keeping pace with change, a job-shadowing experience in our school which will help us to share new ideas and methodologies... in the following link you can have a look to her fantastic job:  https://www.facebook.com/ErasmusOmi%C5%A1-S%C5%A0JK-110961258132304

For this reason we have been working in our class project with Dajana, she's been very kind collaborating with the students and helping with the tasks. Here we can see some of the photographs taken during the process...

If you like the project, you can see the final videos about the TV program, the first part was devoted to interview Dajana, as if she were a celebrity, the second part was a street survey about the environmental problems and the possible solutions, which was done together with Estefanía Mena,  the Physics and Quemistry teacher, and the last video, which was ruled by Tony Ramos, the Citizenship teacher, is a debate about the advantages and disadvantages of Quemistry in our daily lives.

Everything has been worked in class, in a cooperative approach and we have also visited the Future Laboratory in the CPR Don Benito Villanueva de la Serena, in which we have felt like at home (thanks).

We hope that you enjoy it.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Our students have found very interesting the lives of these women who fought and changed the way the world saw their role.Celebrating women's achievement, raising awareness against bias and taking action for equality.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Martin Luther King's Day

2º ESO ( BILINGUAL GROUP)

We have been dealing with this celebration devoted to Peace's Day, it is mainly celebrated in the USA, but it is also commemorated in some English Speaking Countries.

We have learnt about the "fight with words" that Martin Luther King did, he made the difference, and we all want to make our difference, following his words... that is why we have written our "DREAMS" in those pieces of work.

1*ESO, A BILINGUAL HISTORY LESSON

Our group in 1st year of Secondary Education is now studying about the Roman Empire, and they have done their own building's description with every little part to know more about the Roman architecture of the previously little-used architectural forms of the arch, vault, and dome... These included amphitheatres, aqueducts, baths, bridges, circuses, domes, temples and theatres.
